About Genie
I am a Korean native speaker with extensive Korean teaching experience based in Sydney, Australia. I have experience in teaching Korean to the native Spanish speakers in countries like Spain, Colombia and Peru, during online language exchanges for more than 4 years and also have been teaching Korean to Australians who are learning it through a Meetup group for around 15 years.
I love languages, hiking, cooking, Latin dancing, Latin music, playing tennis, science, animals, making fermented foods like Kimchi, Makgeolli, kefir etc, film & TV series, and exploring great restaurants to enjoy delicious international dishes.
I have always been passionate about languages. I was fluent in Japanese and also I've been learning Spanish so now I can speak it pretty comfortably.
As a language learner myself, I understand how challenging it can be to master a new language. Making mistakes is a natural and essential part of the learning process, so there’s no need to be afraid of speaking, even with errors. I’m here to help you correct those mistakes and guide you on your journey to speaking Korean fluently in no time!

My lessons are student-centred and focus on speaking but I also help with vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening and writing depending on your Korean level, goals, interests, motivation and preferred learning methods.
Language learning goes beyond just the language itself—it’s also about understanding the culture. In my lessons, you’ll explore the history, fascinating backstories, and hidden gems of the culture including K-pop, K-drama, K-movie and travelling to Korea, alongside the language.
A wide variety of lesson materials will be incorporated to maintain your engagement and motivation. Always on the lookout for great resources and new teaching/learning methods online to improve. Homework will be provided to speed up your learning pace but it’s optional. Detailed written feedback will also be provided regularly.

Genie is a great English teacher. She is super friendly, patient, and fun, makes me feel very comfortable even though I get quite nervous when I speak English with mistakes. Her classes are really chill but well-organized, and she customizes everything to my needs. If you’re into Aussie English or planning to study in Sydney, she’s the best—lots of local slang, culture tips, and real-life stuff. Totally recommend!
Genie is such an awesome Korean teacher! She's super patient, kind, and always brings great vibes to class.
