About Angelica
I’m an experienced educator and private tutor with 9+ years of experience supporting students in both classroom and one-on-one settings. I hold a B.A. in English from UC Berkeley and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, giving me a strong background in communication, critical thinking, writing, quantitative reasoning, and academic strategy.
I am also a certified teacher in Arizona for grades 6–12 and have worked in traditional classroom environments, small-group instruction, academic intervention, test preparation, and individualized tutoring. Over the years, I have worked with more than 200 students across a wide range of ages, subjects, and ability levels.
My tutoring experience includes elementary and middle school academics, high school coursework, writing and English, math, study skills, SAT/ACT and other standardized test preparation, and support for advanced and high-achieving students. I have also designed personalized curriculum and enrichment materials for students who need instruction beyond their grade level.
My approach is highly individualized. I focus not only on helping students improve grades and test scores, but also on strengthening foundational skills, study habits, confidence, and independent problem-solving. Whether a student is catching up, preparing for an important exam, or looking for an additional academic challenge, I tailor each session to their needs and goals.

I teach using the Socratic method, guiding students toward answers through thoughtful, targeted questions rather than simply giving them the solution. This approach helps me connect new concepts to what a student already knows, allowing them to develop stronger critical-thinking and problem-solving skills while building a deeper understanding of the material. By helping students discover the “why” behind an answer, I aim to create meaningful connections that improve both long-term retention and their ability to work independently.

My rates reflect the experience, preparation, and individualized attention I bring to each student. With 9+ years of tutoring and teaching experience, an Arizona teaching certification, a B.A. from UC Berkeley, and an MBA from UCLA Anderson, I provide highly personalized instruction rather than a one-size-fits-all tutoring session.
My in-person rate is $100/hour because it includes not only instructional time, but also travel throughout my service area, transportation costs, lesson preparation, and the additional time required for an in-person appointment. My online rate is $65/hour because virtual sessions eliminate travel time and expenses while providing the same personalized instruction, preparation, and academic expertise.
