Alex gave me one-to-one English lessons, whilst training for his TEFL certificate. Alex is a very kind and patient teacher. He makes his lessons very fun and he helped me a lot.

Alex tutored my daughter, Rebecca for a year in preparation for her GCSE English Literature and Language exams. Alex was a great help to Rebecca, and she gained a lot of confidence under his tutorage. Rebecca is a visual learner, so Alex showed her a good way to annotate her literature texts, using a colour-coordinated key. He also created a quotation map for her, so she could remember the important lines within the text and their significance. This gave her a much better understanding of the text, and helped her organize her revision notes. Alex's revision booklets also have Rebecca a better understanding of the themes of the texts ('Inspector Calls' and Jekyll and Hyde'). Finally, Alex helped Rebecca understand figurative language, by creating flashcards for her, which really helped her to recognize them in her exam. Overall, Alex is a very hard-working, conscientious and engaging tutor who I would highly recommend to any student studying GCSE English or a humanities-based subject.
