About Jake

Hi! My name is Jake, and I'm a junior studying design history at Cornish College of the Arts and the University of Washington. I have five years of experience as a tutor and two as a TA; I have worked with students as young as 10 and as old as 40.

As a student myself, I have a strong understanding of the challenges students face in college, and will do my best to help you prepare for anything from a final exam paper to a multiple-choice pop-up quiz.

About the lesson

I teach mostly to 11th and 12th grade high schoolers, beginning undergraduates with focuses in humanities, and interested upperclassmen.

Before teaching a lesson, I like to assess the student's goal: are they studying for an upcoming test? Are they trying to improve their understanding of a particular subject? My role is to help build their understanding of the subject so that, with time and interest, they can begin to form opinions and draw connections independently.
