About Michael
I am a freelance viola player with orchestras, opera companies, choral societies and chamber groups around the south-east of England. I have played at all of the country's top performing arts venues and studied at the Royal Academy of Music and University of London.

My philosophy is based on a calm and relaxed approach to the instrument, with as much alleviation of tension as possible. The foundations are worked on before we attempt anything complicated. I like students to really use their ears when playing, and encourage self-reflection and observation. Improvisation plays a big role, which should also add the element of fun.
