About Meg

I’m passionate about chemistry and love helping students see that it can be an interesting and enjoyable subject, rather than something they simply have to memorise! I aim to make lessons relaxed, friendly and fun, while helping students build the confidence to tackle challenging topics for themselves.

As an experienced secondary school teacher, I understand the demands of GCSEs and the different ways students learn. I have also worked with a wide range of learners, including students with SEND, and understand the importance of adapting explanations, pace and activities to suit each individual.

For me, tutoring is about more than just improving grades. I want students to understand what they are learning, feel confident asking questions, develop effective ways to revise and, hopefully, discover a genuine interest in chemistry (and science!) along the way.

I’m an experienced teacher and tutor who focuses on making lessons clear, engaging and tailored to each student. I like to use short, concise explanations followed by plenty of practice questions. We’ll initially work through examples together, before giving students the opportunity to work independently, with support and feedback as needed.

My lessons are closely aligned to the relevant mark scheme and exam requirements, while also focusing on genuinely understanding the concepts rather than simply memorising answers. I also help students develop effective revision and learning strategies, build confidence, and develop a real passion for the subject.

I have a PGCE and NPQ, and my most recent role involved training and supporting other teachers in effective teaching practices. I mainly tutor GCSE students aged 14–16, although I’m happy to adapt lessons to suit different abilities and individual needs.

Lessons are typically 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the student and the topic.
