There are two approaches I take for each subject:
In the case of Mathematics, it is mainly giving shortcuts and muscle memory through repition of the subject. Many people simply only know how to solve without, understanding what it is they are solving.
For History, as it is more informational, constructing a single and cohesive narrative, in addition to viewing multiple perspectives and intentions, will give my students a better look on our past, rather than saying "And this guy won the war in 15- whatever"
