About Maxine
Chemistry felt like a dense puzzle until I started mapping out the actual electron movement. That initial curiosity guided me to earn a Doctor of Medicine from UC San Francisco School of Medicine. I focus on helping pre-med students navigate the complexities of ORGANIC CHEMISTRY.
My 2 years of experience have shown me how to break down difficult concepts for college majors and exam candidates. I prioritize clarity when explaining resonance and acidity or stereochemistry. Drawing structures is a fundamental skill that requires repetitive practice.

Starting with a look at curved-arrow notation usually clarifies the entire logic of carbonyl chemistry. It is a bit like learning a new language where functional groups act as the alphabet.
We spend time building proficiency in IUPAC nomenclature and NMR spectroscopy before moving to amines. I rely on my medical training to keep the focus sharp and efficient. My students receive free access to my reaction-mechanism notes to reinforce our time together. I look forward to working with you as a fellow traveler in science.
