About NIGEL
I tutored a Politics A level student, taking him from an E grade in his mock, to an A grade in his exam. This meant he could take up his place at Reading University. We worked together in person and online. As a BBC & Channel Four television producer, I made programmes with Jon Snow, Boris Johnson, Gordon Brown, and well known presenters and comedians, filming in the US, Middle East and UK. Following a return to study at Oxford, I worked as a political analyst advising Fortune 500 companies, living in Singapore and South Asia. I have a passion for politics, and have worked for Oxford University conducting political field-work, and also for a UK political party. I've been a prep school teacher at St Philip's School, Kensington (rated 'Outstanding'. I teach Maths and English. I was the lead 11+ tutor at the Bright Young Things tutoring centre in Harrow. I have taught over 30 students, and guided students to places at Habs, QE, and Henrietta Barnet.

I am an Oxford and Bristol graduate and ex-BBC producer. I also worked as a political analyst advising multinational companies on investments in South Asia. I have an instinctive way of putting students at ease and motivating them, instilling rigour in their exam prep. I quickly work out a student's strengths and where they need to improve. I've taught students how to rigorously organise answer plans. This has helped them get A grades where before they got C and D grades in exams. As an avid follower of politics, I am able to adapt teaching in response to current events so students' examples are always fresh. This makes the difference between a B and an A or A*. As a published writer and journalist, and PhD candidate in Creative Writing at University of London, I also teach story writing and creative writing. I am able to guide students in essay planning and intensive exam prep, having gained straight A's in A level (English, History, Economics & Politics) and at GCSE. In particular, I encourage students to make connections between the syllabus and their thoughts on the world around them, and as a writer I greatly enjoy nurturing students' creativity. I am local to Hampstead, Queens Park, Belsize and Brondesbury. I can teach anywhere in Camden and also central Zone 1 locations. I can online tutor via Skype and use a document camera that shows what the student is writing. I review essays photographed on a phone and emailed to me too. This works well, and allows steady progress.

Thank you, Nigel, for teaching our son!
Your teaching techniques, methodology, and materials for both math and English were very well produced and highly beneficial to our son's confidence.
We have seen a significant improvement in our son's progress as a result of your well-structured program in such a short period of time.
With your prudent, supportive, and hard-working strategy for comprehending our son's learning abilities and keeping him motivated, you have successfully generated the greatest potential and confidence in him. Thank you for that!
My recommendation: the overall experience with Nigel's tuition has always been excellent, and the package he introduced included 11+ preparation, mock tests, and interview prep, which I must acknowledge were very helpful in increasing our son's confidence before his real exam and interview day and significantly improving his potential.
Daniel was accepted by every UK co-ed selective school to which we applied (Wellington College, Charterhouse, Brighton College, and Emanuel School). I would strongly recommend Nigel's tuition approach to parents who are serious about managing their children's 11+ exam and interview preparation.
Yours sincerely,
ElviraNigel is an outstanding tutor, and we were delighted with the help he gave to our son in his 11+ preparations. He provides specific techniques for the different topics, which helps the student obtain maximum marks for each question. He has a seemingly photographic memory of past papers. Nigel was also an expert at keeping our son focussed on the subject, despite our son's best efforts at distracting him! But at the same time, our son and Nigel had fun! Especially during the interview preparations, which is another fantastic job Nigel did!
Although we started the process late, our son got offers from Haberdashers Boys, Merchant Taylors, Mill Hill and Brighton College.
We have no hesitation in recommending Nigel to any other parents. It's been such a pleasure having Nigel supporting my daughter in her Maths, non VR and interview prep ref 11+. Nigel took lessons for just about a year and she got offers from all schools we applied to across ISEB, London Consortium and City of London Girls/CEM. Nigel was extremely involved and patient. His method of teaching gave Ira lot of confidence and motivation. I would highly recommend Nigel and one of the key things that also stood out was Nigel doing all lessons in person which had a huge positive effect on learning.
Nigel has been tutoring our daughter and has supported her in developing her maths skills, which isn't her strongest area. He also encouraged her and guided her in her comprehension and creative writing. She always looked forward to lessons with Nigel. He managed to make it fun and engaging. And she has now been offered places at both schools she applied to. Thank you Nigel. (We chose Nigel to tutor our daughter because he had successfully tutored our son, who also gained a place at his preferred school).
Nigel really helped my son achieve his place in Brentwood school. He also helped to boost his confidence when he was interviewed by the school. My son enjoyed being taught by Nigel and always found him to be clear and interesting which meant he always wanted to have the lesson. I would highly recommend Nigel to anyone needing extra tuition for their children.
Nigel is an incredibly knowledgeable and patient teacher. He has an energetic and yet calming approach, as well as a wealth of different strategies that he uses to help build knowledge, understanding and confidence in pupils.
Nigel Singh teaches with great enthusiasm and structure. He makes the lessons fun and explains useful ways for children to orientate all english literature and language tasks. He taught my son both in a school environment and on a one to one and I can't recommend him enough.
I worked with Nigel at a preparatory school in London and he is a warm and interesting person. I had the pleasure of seeing him teach a few times and he was enthusiastic, engaging, passionate, and rigorous. He made Maths and English lessons interesting, and got excellent results. I also saw him do 1:1 work with pupils and his interest in helping them was clear - he really wanted the best for each student as was willing to put a lot of effort into helping them achieve it. I would have loved to have had someone like him as a tutor when I was that age.
Nigel taught my son Maths and English in year 5. He brought out my son's talent in English, and encouraged him in Maths. My son said Nigel was one of the best teachers he ever had.
