About Dani
I am a graduate of Kenyon College, where I studied English Literature and Music Composition. I am a multi-instrumentalist, with professional experience in piano and clarinet performance, as well as additional experience playing guitar, ukulele, bass, drum set, cello, and violin. My multi-instrumentalism has culminated in the release of three albums that I wrote, produced, performed, mixed, and edited entirely.
I am also a film composer, and an incoming student at the NYU Steinhardt Masters of Music in Screen Scoring program. I love telling stories through music and collaborating with filmmakers to do so!

My methods are extremely holistic yet practical. I use a hybrid approach that mixes classical piano techniques with more modern pop and jazz ideals. A typical lesson plan includes the more traditional aspects of piano instruction (scales, method books), and then a project piece of the student's choice. The second half of class centers around that project piece, and I allow the student to take what they learned from their scales and method book, and apply it to their piece.
My teaching style reflects my experience as a songwriter and composer - I value every student's unique creativity, and provide them with the technical knowledge needed for them to flourish as instrumentalists.
Past students have ranged in ages as young as two and a half, to adult seniors, and everything in between. I believe that everyone and anyone can be a pianist, and I look forward to helping you find the pianist in you!
