About Solomon
I am from Durham, North Carolina. I grew up listening to tons of music from jazz to folk to classical to hip hop. In 2020, I co-wrote and produced the song "Stand Up" for the movie Harriet and received an Oscar and Grammy nomination. Nowadays, I work as a pianist in producer in Los Angeles, working with a variety of different artists from Thundercat to Smino to Emeline. I attended Harvard College and New England Conservatory where I was part of a dual degree program for Jazz Piano Performance and Comparative Religion. In my free time I love to play basketball and scrabble.

I studied Jazz Piano at New England Conservatory and Harvard College under Vijay Iyer, Jason Moran, Fred Hersch, and Esperanza Spalding. My approach is tailored to each individual student's goals but I focus on three main elements: 1) Technique, 2) Ear Training and 3) Theory/Repertoire. I find that understanding the mechanics of music and developing one's musical ear is crucial to the enjoyment and advancement of the piano. I have a series of exercises I like to use, but ultimately I like to structure lessons around the specific goals of the student--whether that is professional level performance, or just being able to play a few songs/pieces they enjoy.
